In late November 2018 EDB Fakel finished a long-time life test of the SPT-140 for one of European customers.

On November 27, 2018, a telephone conference was held between representatives of EDB Fakel, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and A. Mozhaysky Military Space Academy.

On November 26, 2018, a scientific and technical board took place at EDB Fakel jointly with a representative of G. Budker Institute of nuclear physics. A. Beklemishev, a PhD in physics and mathematics and senior research scientist of G. Budker Institute of nuclear physics presented a report named “A concept of a helical plasma thruster”.

From 07.11.2018 till 09.11.2018 a visiting meeting between leaders of regional centers of the Earth remote sensing took place at EDB Fakel at the Baltic command and tracking station and Western regional center facilities of the Earth remote sensing.

On the 30th of October EDB Fakel held the workshop named “Propulsion systems for small S/C and nano-class S/C; new technologies and development perspectives”. The topic of the workshop aroused a serious interest among the Russian space industry employees. Representatives of 10 leading enterprises and 3 universities came to share their experience. They presented the audience with their reports for discussion.

On 26th of October EDB Fakel hosted the delegation of the Samara aerospace university headed by the Rector Evgeniy Shakhmatov and Sergey Prokofiev, the vice-rector for science and innovations.

On September 17th, 2018, the EDB Fakel held a yearly session of Science and Technology Board in order to summarize results of experimental and design activities in most challenging areas of thruster engineering. Apart from that the board defined the main scientific and technology research areas for 2019, as well as the action plan for scientific research laboratory for electric propulsion.

From 14th to 18th of May the «Space propulsion 2018» conference and exhibition took place in Seville, Spain, organized by the Association of aviation and cosmonautics of France supported by ESA and CNES.

The year 2018 celebrates the 90th birthday anniversary of the prominent physicist Alexey I. Morozov, who made a huge contribution to many areas of contemporary science about plasma and engineering. A. Morozov was a chief scientist at the Russian research center “Kourchatov institute” and an outstanding scientist in the field of plasma dynamics and plasma accelerators; he was a State (USSR) prize winner for his development of physical bases of electric propulsions and he was also awarded with a medal of the International electric propulsion society for his pioneering work in electric propulsions.
